Dear Second Grade Families,

I am back!!! Thank you for all your prayers.

Volunteers Needed:  Primary Centers from 10:00-12:00.  Please send me an email to reserve your spot since space is limited.

A look at our week:

I will be sending their class work folder next Tuesday.

Homework:  Reading Log; Fluency; IXL I.13 (Complete the skill not just 20 minutes) Students will recite poems on Wednesday and Thursday. Parents will have homework due next Thursday.  I am requesting you to write a love letter to your child to read to them on their day of First Communion.

Religion:  We will continue our slow motion Mass with Father Bill.  We will have the opportunity to taste an unblessed host.  We are getting very close to our First Communion.  Please send me an email if you have ANY questions regarding our Sacrament. I sent home FAQ’s for First Communion and an assignment to write a LOVE LETTER to your child.

Math:  We will be reviewing addition/subtractions with and without regrouping.  We have started working with array/multiplication using addition.  We are on Unit 7 and will work on 7.6 -7.8.  Please go onto the everyday math if your child needs support in any math concepts.  You need to click on homelinks to download a worksheet that is related to the math lesson for that specific unit.  These home link practices are a great review. We will be taking our Unit 7 test on Monday.  We are working on a skill review worksheet this week. It will go home as soon as they are done so you can look over it to review the concepts before the test.

Reading:  We continue our new reading groups.  We will be using many strategies of reading such as evaluation, monitoring, context clues to help with vocabulary meaning and fluency. We continue to work on character traits.

Writing:  We will begin opinion writing.

Spelling:  Unit 29: words ending in –er.  practice words on spellingcity.com.  There are no assignments on spelling city.  I recommend you continue to use it as a study resource.
