We have only a few days this week, between the long holiday weekend and the kick-off on Friday for Catholic Schools Week (Parents’ Day!!).  I look forward to seeing all of you on Friday morning, starting with Mass at 8:30!

On Wednesday, February 4th we will be taking a field trip to Olivas Adobe, to experience life in early California.  Please send in the signed permission form and the Olivas Adobe waiver form and the $20 fee as soon as possible.  Click here for the permission forms.field trip waiver

This week we will be completing Reading logs, due next Monday, using the new, more open-ended Reading log. You may also click here to access. Weekly_Reading_Log Note that this file gives you forms for two weeks!

We will NOT be doing ixL math this week.  Instead, your child will come home each day with a Math worksheet to complete, based upon what we are covering in class.  The worksheet is due the following day.

In Spelling we will begin Unit 15. The test will be next week.

We will begin studying Unit 9 in Vocabulary; the test will be next week.

In Grammar we continue our study of verbs, focusing upon verb phrases.

We continue our work on essay/opinion writing this week, writing an essay about an important person and a favorite place..

In Math we have started Unit 4, which covers decimals. See the note above regarding the daily homework, which will be study links for unit 4.

Our main focus in Religion class this week will be the third commandment.  Today we spent time discussing similarities between two great leaders: Jesus and Martin Luther King, Jr.

In Social Studies we are preparing for a test on chapter 3, which will be on Thursday.  Your child has a set of index cards to study from!

All students need to have in class by this Friday some sort of printed material (book, Internet printouts, pamphlets, etc.) about their mission, so that we can begin work on our written reports.

We continue our study of chapter 3 in Science, with a test next week.

All groups are reading the assigned nonfiction selection in reading groups.

Thanking you for your continued support,

Mrs. Dwyer
