Dear Kindergarten Parents,

Here we are in March-oh the things that will be  happening this week!  You must have noticed, in honor of Dr. Seuss we are celebrating READ ACROSS AMERICA . For homework please read an additional 5 to 10 minutes record extra book(s) Click here for form Please return this hat (form) with 5 book titles, your child’s name and your initials. Your child will receive a ticket for each hat. This ticket goes into the raffle at the end of March.

Wednesday night is our annual School Fair. Starts at 6:30  to 7:45. You’ll see many amazing science and social studies projects from each class and individual work from our students.

Wednesday afternoon at 2:00 – Stations of the Cross – please join us if your schedule permits.

Our Academic week:

Religion focus: Message of Lent – Understanding the love and forgiveness Jesus taught by example and through stories as we read from the Children’s Bible.

ELA: Lots of rhyming words; silly and nonsense words; blending and segmenting words/sounds; focus letter Zz; short vowel /a/, /i/; sight words; sentence structure; reading strategy to monitor and clarify. Writing workshop: reviewing opinion and working on an informative piece.

EM: coming to the end of Section 5 review of graphing;  number grid; attribute blocks; using tally marks;  counting by 5s; and games that will reinforce these skills.

Science: finishing up our landform projects; a focus on weather as we begin March. Health: food choices and movement skills.

Social Studies: A unit on National Symbols begins  this month.

Reminder: please bring in library book-in order to check out a new one.
