Dear Families,

The fifth grade is very excited for our Jog-A-Thon this Friday.  Please make sure to return the white permission slip envelopes.  I look forward to everyone’s participation on Friday!  Friday will be a noon dismissal.  Tomorrow Progress Reports go home.  Please sign and return to me by May 12th.  Below is an overview of our week:

Religion:  We will begin Unit 2.  We will discuss the importance of being an honest and effective communicator.

Vocabulary:  Our Unit 11 test will be this Thursday.

Grammar:  Unit 6.  Our focus this week will be on writing sentences correctly, proper nouns and proper adjectives, and commas in a series.

Math:  IXL sections this week are N.1 and N.6.  We will use an area model to find fractions of fractions.

Social Studies:  We will have our Chapter 8 test on Tuesday.  This week the completed packet is due on Thursday.  We will then start Chapter 9.

Science:  Chapter 4.  Our focus will be conserving fresh water.

ELA:  We will continue to write our final essay about our book, The House of Dies Drear.  We are also enjoying reading The Secret Garden together.
