Dear Kindergarten Families,

What an exciting week ahead! The Saint’s Parade is on Friday at 8:30, have your little saint come to school dressed in costume wearing school clothes underneath. Be sure to ‘test’ out the costume for walking, kneeling, and sitting in church for comfort. If you have any questions or costume concerns, please send me an email.  Friday is a 12:00 dismissal.

Permission Slips for our field trip to Channel Islands Museum need to be in school by Friday – a reminder will come – we don’t want any child left behind. (About half the class has returned the slips).

Listening to scripture and Christian life helps us to understand that people are gifts of God’s love. We are studying Chapter 7 in our Religion text, Families Are Good.

ELA – This week we will focus on beginning sound of letter Nn and review the letter/sound of s, m, r, t, and b from the previous weeks. Our reading and listening to strategy is to summarize and comprehension focus to make inferences and draw conclusions. An exercise on action words and nouns will be another component ELA as we reflect on stories read in class.

EM- Section 2 is wrapping up with symmetry. As we begin Section 3, number formation, patterns in review, concepts in addition and subtraction, measurement and using the pan balance.

Science – continues with animals – movement and changes with seasons.

Social studies- looking at the differences and similarities with people long ago and present day traditions and holidays.

Water sales continue on Tuesday and Thursday to support the Adopt-A-Family  mission project.

Thank you for your children!

Mrs. Carol Brown
