Dearest Second Grade Parents,

I enjoyed spending some time with you at Parent/Teacher Conferences.  Thank you for all you do to support your child’s academics!

Our Christmas Program will be on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m.  We will have a dress rehearsal at 1:30 on Wednesday.  If you have read this newsletter, please send me an email  by tomorrow evening. I want to make sure you have all seen the change of time for our Christmas Program.

Here is a look at our week.

Homework:  NO HOMEWORK (NO IXL, NO READING LOG, NO FLUENCY)!!!!!!! The student’s think that they have homework since they wrote it in their planner this morning.  Please let them know that all I want for Christmas is for them to read all on their own without logging in their time and name of book.

Language Arts:

Writing:  Reminder to send in our Flat Host Christmas Card. Please send a Christmas card by Wednesday.  We will send our cards out on Friday.  J

Reading:  We will be reading a few Christmas books such as The Gingerbread Man, The Gingerbread Baby, The Gingerbread Girl.  We will compare and contrast the characters and setting in the stories.  We will also discuss details.

Spelling/Grammar:  No new spelling words this week.  Our Unit 15 test will be tomorrow. This week we will review spelling patterns we have learned and play “sparkle”.  We will fix sentences (capitalization, punctuation, past tense, apostrophes).  Making words with CHRISTMAS!

Math:  We will continue reviewing math facts through games.

Religion:  Advent & Christmas

Science:  We will complete animal life cycle.  We will have our unit test the second week we return from our vacation.
