Welcome Back Third Grade Families,

This week will be a busy one. Read below to see what we will be up to:

Math: Unit 8 – Fractions, continued! The class will continue to review fractions as we make our way through lessons 8.4-8.6. As always, see the Home Links at www.everydaymathonline.com for extra practice and review. Your child’s username and password can be found in his/her planner.

This week’s IXL homework assignment is as follows:

S.5 Match Unit Fractions to Models

S.6 Match Fractions to Models

S.8 Show Fractions: Area Models

Spelling: Click here for this week’s spelling words/pattern.

Vocabulary: We will begin continue with Unit 15 this week. Go to the Vocabulary Workshop website for words and definitions. Login information can be found in your child’s planner.

Grammar: This week we will finish Unit 4. We will cover Lesson 33: “Negatives” before going on to review. The Unit 4 Test will take place next Tuesday, April 28th. In your studies I suggest reviewing the subtle differences between adjectives and adverbs, practicing identifying both.

Reading: This week each student will be reciting the poem selected before the break. We will spend time practicing on Monday and begin recitations on Tuesday first taking volunteers and then selecting at random through Thursday so that we may pace ourselves through the week.

Social Studies: The class will begin a new unit on Government and Citizenship. We will learn all about rules in communities.

Science: We will continue with Life Science: Adaptations to Land and Water.

Religion: The students will continue our supplementary unit on Family Life.

Best,

Mrs. Espinosa
